How to Create Native Banner Creatives

This article reviews the steps needed in order to create and run Native Banner creative in your DSP account

Content

Overview

The Native Banner creative type allows you to run programmatic native inventory that is explicitly aligned with Google Native Ads specifications. Unlike standard display banners, Native ads are designed to match the look, feel, and function of the media format in which they appear. Because they blend seamlessly with the publisher's content, they often result in higher engagement rates.

Availability

This feature is available to all DSP account levels.

  • Note: For Enterprise accounts, this feature is currently restricted to Internal creatives only.

Configuration Steps

To set up a Native Banner, follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to the Creative Library in your DSP account Advertiser module -> Creatives screen/Tab.
  2. Click New Creative.
  3. In the "Media Type" dropdown menu, select 'Native'.
  4. The system will display the Native Asset Input Form, where you can upload your assets.

Asset Specifications

Native ads require specific individual assets (images and text), which the publisher will assemble to fit their specific site layout. Please ensure your assets meet the following requirements:

Field Required? Constraints & Validation
Title Yes Maximum 25 characters.
Advertiser Name Yes Maximum 25 characters.
Main Image Yes

File Type: PNG, JPG, JPEG, GIF.

Max Size: 5 MB.

Min Resolution: 200x200.

Allowed Ratios: 1:1, 1:1.91, 2:1, 5.4:1, 0.75:1, 0.56:1.

CTA Text Yes

The Call to Action button (e.g., "Install," "Visit").

Max: 15 characters.

Default: 'Learn More'.

Logo / Icon No

File Type: PNG, JPG, JPEG, GIF.

Max Size: 5 MB.

Min Resolution: 128x128.

Ratio: Must be exactly 1:1.

Body / Description No Maximum 90 characters.

Note on Validation: You will not be able to save the creative if required fields (Title, Image, etc.) are missing. The system also automatically validates image aspect ratios upon upload; if your image does not match the allowed ratios (e.g., 1.91:1 or 1:1), you will receive an error message.

Previewing Your Ad

Once you have uploaded your assets, the DSP provides a "Generic Preview". This renders a wireframe showing how your Headline, Body, Image, and Logo sit together so you can verify the assets loaded correctly.

Important: Please note that the actual rendering varies by publisher site/app. The final look of the ad is determined by the publisher's CSS to ensure it matches their unique design.

Reporting & Technical Details

  • Bidding Standards: These creatives are mapped to OpenRTB 2.x Native standards (e.g., Headline maps to title, Body maps to data/desc).
  • Analytics: Native Banners support all standard performance metrics, including Impressions, Clicks, CTR, Spend, and CPM.
