How to create a Mapping rule

This article is a step-by-step guide on how to create a Mapping rule.

Step-by-step guide

Navigation: 

Go to Advertisers module -> Mapping rule screen -> press the '+' button in the top right corner of the grid.
This action can also be performed from the Advertiser level in the Advertisers module -> Advertisers List ->  Advertiser Details form -> Mapping rule tab.

  1. Creating a new Mapping rule:
    1. Press the '+' icon on the top right corner of the table grid. A 'Create a rule' form will be presented.
    2. Fill in the mandatory fields: Name, Advertiser, Incoming & target properties.
      You can fill in the additional fields/filters as well if required.
      For the full list of filters, incoming & target properties refer to the Mapping rule tab.
    3. Press the 'Create' button.
  2. Add data records:
    1. In order to apply the mapping rule, you must first add data records to it.
      Press the data record row action, a mapping data screen will be presented.
    2. Uploading a data file:

      1. Press the Upload file icon on the right top of the grid and then press the 'Upload File' button. 
      2. Choose the file to upload and press 'Open'.
        The file should be of type csv/txt and up to 10M.

    3. Adding data records manually:
      1. Press the '+' icon on the right top of the grid. 
        A form of 'Insert a Mapping Rule Data' will be presented.
      2. Insert your records manually in the mapping rule data text box:
        Make sure to have one data record per line.
        Each line should contain the From & Target properties (mandatory), and description (optional), separated by a comma (",").
      3. Press 'Save'.
      4. You can edit a data record by clicking on the edit row action of your chosen data record. All fields will be editable.
    4. Bulk replacement of values
      1. Press the Bulk replacement icon on the right top of the grid. 
        A form of 'Bulk Replace "TO" Value' will be presented.
      2. Insert the TO values you wish to replace, in the following format:
        existing value=new value.
        For example: to replace google.com with yahoo.com, write: google.com=yahoo.com
        Make sure to have one TO value to replace per line.
      3. Press the 'Replace All' button and then the Confirmation.
    5. Automatic mapping rules (Custom integration types)
      1. Advertisers of some custom integration types have automatic mapping rules which can be found in the Advertiser's form/Integration tab.
      2. All actions on data records of automatics mapping rules, as described above, can be done from the Integration tab.
  3. Edit a mapping rule:
    1. Press the Edit row action of your chosen mapping rule, in the Mapping rules grid.
    2. An 'Update a rule' form will be presented.
    3. All fields are editable except for the Advertiser name and the From & Target properties.
    4. Press the 'Update' button when done.

Users can add a value of ‘$_other_$’ to a data record. This can be done either by uploading a file or manually.
This value is a special property that will catch all values that are not specified.
Be aware that by doing so this rule will not act as an allowed list
