# How to Set Up Postback Conversion Tracking

*Available only for DSP accounts and PE enterprise accounts -> DSP (=Internal) campaigns.*

## Overview

A postback is a type of S2S (server-to-server) conversion tracking, the exchange of information between servers to report a user's action on a website, network, or app. In online advertising and digital marketing, a postback is often used as a tracking mechanism to measure conversions.

Postbacks enable advertisers and media sources to better optimize their ad campaigns by providing a useful feedback loop for the entire advertising ecosystem.

## What Is a Conversion?

A conversion occurs when a user completes a desired action, such as making a purchase, filling out a form, or installing an app. For businesses, conversions represent important goals, as they signify successful interactions with potential customers.

***

## How Postbacks Measure Conversions

When a user completes a conversion action, such as making a purchase on an e-commerce website, a postback is triggered. This postback sends information back to the advertiser's server, confirming the conversion. The advertiser's server then records this information, allowing them to track and measure the effectiveness of their advertising campaigns.

## How to Use Postback on Your Gamoshi Account

A postback is related to an advertiser entity in your account. There are two ways to create one:

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

### Via S2S Conversion setup

In the **Advertiser module → Conversions** screen, define a conversion ([*see detailed guide*](/gamoshi-wiki/how-to-guides/how-to-implement-conversion-tracking.md)) for an advertiser of type S2S.

You can create multiple postback pixels per conversion and then associate the conversion with the advertiser's relevant creatives. Copy the Postback URL for each goal and send it to the advertiser to fire upon each goal event.

{% hint style="info" %}
Use this option if you want to declare a few goals for conversion tracking.
{% endhint %}
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Via postback setup on a creative

Create a postback, then select it elsewhere via the creative entity in the ***Tracking and Conversion*** section.

1. Make sure the radio button is active on the **"Postback"** value.
2. Select an existing postback for the creative from the select box, or create a new one.
3. When creating a new one, name the postback and add a click URL.
4. Click **Save**; a new postback will be created and will also appear on the Conversions screen as an S2S postback conversion, which you can select again for other creatives.

{% hint style="info" %}
You can use the postback's click URL as-is, or override it for a specific creative using the **"Use Conversion/Postback Target URL"** switch in the Tracking and Conversion section.
{% endhint %}
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Copy the postback URL

The postback URL appears in the creative's **Tracking and Conversion** section for copying and sending to the advertiser or external provider to fire upon the event. You can also copy it from the Conversions screen.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Register a conversion

When the attribution link is called, Gamoshi registers a conversion in your account. You can view it in the **Analytics module → BI screen** by adding the hidden column **"Conv Events"** (Conversion Events).

{% hint style="info" %}
This metric is available only on the Advertiser, Campaign, and Creative dimensions.
{% endhint %}
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

## Available Conversion Metrics

You can add a few hidden conversion-related metrics at the Advertiser, Campaign, and Creative levels; conversion data is also available in the Analytics Module -> *Conversions screen.*

* **Conversion opportunities** – The number of times the user interacted with the conversion page (web activity only).
* **Conversion Views** – The number of conversion view events: a conversion that happened not from a direct ad click, but later on.
* **Conversion Events** – The number of conversion events.
* **Conversion Rate** – Calculated as (Conversion Events / Clicks) × 100.
